The KCC Hallowe'en Garden Party

This photo "mystery" event will demand your attention and nerve if your personal "ghoul" is to make "awe striking" images. Carolyn is providing this image creation "ritual" for KCC members to see what's "buried" in the "depths" of her "mystical" garden.

Bring along your hollowed out pumpkin ready to be carved, and then use it to help light up the "grave" yard for the evening's portion of the image "shooting".

You will have to chase the "dying" light as afternoon "wanes".  Bring along your own ingenious solution for fending off the "shadows"; tripods, light sources, reflectors may "save" you from the "dark side".

As "darkness" falls, those interested can join us in ordering a "final" repast in the form of a pizza supper. Should the "night" so choose, there may be a chance to "capture" some  "ethereal" shots with the assistance of a celestial "body"!

Further details will search you out in the form of a KCC members' email.

Tutorial Triathlon

  • Jewish Community Centre of Peterborough (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Are you ready for this? Have you started your conditioning program?  Three tutorials in one evening for the KCC team. You may have to train your concentration for this event!

Sensibly, one tutorial will help you understand what a sensor in your digital camera is - and then go on to explain the process of cleaning it. Squeegees and steel wool won't be necessary, those you can leave at home.

A second tutorial will involve "Manual Labour" (no, it isn't about a Mexican outlaw). This session does include guidance in how to use the manual settings on your camera. Whether this is new information or a review, having your camera with you should be helpful. The camera's manual might also be useful if you can locate it.

For your enlightenment, the third tutorial in the triumvirate will feature a live demo of the uses and effects of the basic adjustments available in the "Lightroom" software. There should be opportunity for some discussion and Q&A about the software and techniques being presented.

Following this strenuous program, you will need to socialize over coffee with other KCC team members.

Cranking It Up!

Tonight's meeting is one of the most important and illuminating KCC weekly meetings of the year!  This is the evening where the KCC members get to call the shots!

Bring along your favourite markers and your best battery of ideas so you can be a part of the event-creation process. The results from this evening's festivities act as the roadmap for the KCC Steering Committee in planning and developing KCC's future events and your future KCC outings

... and no-one would mind if folks were to bring along a few "goodies" to share (to go with the coffee) which of course would help us to remain focussed on the project at hand! Right?

Light Up the Night

Our group will be taking a "light-hearted" approach to the techy aspects of creating images in the dark utilizing alternate light sources.  This session is for members to implement the tips and skills that Gerry's "fireworks" photography tutorial offered previously, at KCC's end of August meeting. You could have a bright future ahead by mastering these dark art skills.

Feel free to bring along light sources such as; glow sticks, flashlights, lanterns, sparklers etc. * Please keep safety in mind in your choices of illumination,

Tripods are a definite asset for this event.

Dancing in the Dark is not recommended at this event due to the risk of personal injury!

A "Zim"-ply Mah-velous Evening, Dahling!

Tonight's event is not to be confused with a photoshoot of the "Zimmers", the English oldies pop group.  (see YouTube or iTunes)   Sorry for any confusion!

In reality . . .  begin with a large selection of Zimbabwe based stone sculpture art.  Now add your own creative eye to the mix along with a summer's evening light.  Now you have the opportunity to create some powerful photographic "ZImages".  Tripods, and light-reflective surfaces (reflector, whiteboard etc) are highly recommended for this type of photography.

Zim Art's web link is on the KCC website "Links & Resources" page

Thanks to the staff at Zim Art - Rice Lake Gallery, for extending their hours to accommodate the KCC members' visit for this evening's photoshoot.
